![]() ![]() I suppose plan b is to buy a stock and have the stainess parts Cerakoted. Personally I want to get one of these to use on my Mini-14 in 300 AAC Blackout so I'm waiting for a blued or otherwise blackned stainless version. But people who have older Mini-14 rifles will probably be glad to see these stocks on the market. Who cares? Many people likely won't especially given the cost of a new Mini-14. Not sure who, if not Samson, is making the pistol grip. It is being reported on TOS that Samson gets the wood from Ruger and only makes the metal parts. I don't know what relationship Samson has with Ruger but I do note the A TM stock is "endorsed" by Ruger. I haven't seen one live and in person yet but pictures show a stock that looks very much like the 1980s original. Well, Samson Mfg has fjnally filled the void and is now selling what they call the A TM stock. The GB Model or government barrel model features either a pistol grip with side folding stock or a standard semi-pistol grip rifle stock and comes with either a 20 or 30-round magazine, bayonet lug and threaded barrel equiped with a factory flash suppressor. I would email the CEO once or twice a year just to keep the pressure on. ![]() Once the ban expired, a few vocal Mini-14 owners started pestering Ruger to bring a factory folder back into the market. After the ban was signed into law, Ruger disposed of and/or repurposed the tooling to make other products. (without mag, it weighs only 6 lbs 10 oz)The Mini-14 was sold as a factory folder back before the Clinton Ban. With a Poly Factory stock, sling, and 20 round mag it weighs 7 lbs even I started with a 1989 vintage Ruger Ranch rifle, as it has the ability to take scopes and has a 1/7 twist barrel.ġ) 1990 vintage 188 Series Ruger Ranch Rifle, 1/7 twist barrelĢ) Tech Sights rear ghost ring sight to replace the flimsy rear leaf.ģ) 580 series front sight to replace the mile high bladeĤ) Muzzle threaded 1/2x28 for a 5/8" lengthĥ) AIM Sports A2 style 5 slot Muzzle BreakĨ) Ruger GB Model folding stock gas block with side sling swivelĩ) 1 1/2" QD rear sling swivel on side of butt stock, 360 degree swivelġ0) 1 1/2" nylon light weight sling (from Colt factory package) Poly stock (though wood with a wood handguard is sexier) Post and wing front sight (M1/M16 style).Ħ). 1/7 twist for MK262 MOD1 77 grain OTMsģ) Ability to use quick release Ruger factory type scope rings like current 580 seriesĥ). ![]() With this in mind, after going through several Minis, I have decide to create my "perfect Mini".Ģ). They limit you to scout mounts or side-plate mounts, which as a rule do not hold zero. There are old GB models out there that come close with 1/7 barrels and thread with good sights. The 18 inch barrels really maximizes the 77s, or 55s for that matter. Also the current tacticals are only 16" barrels. I like their sights, and they take Ruger rings, so you don't need scout mount or wobbly side plate mount. Problem is, they are 1/9 twist, not 1/7 (like the Mid-80 to 90-s Minis) so do not get the most out of the 5.56 MK262 MOD1 77 grainers. The current Mini-14 Tactical Models are close to my idea of the "Perfect" Mini. I have two AR15s, one AK, a Mini-30, and a Mini-14! It is merely my opinion of what I think is the perfect Mini-14) (Disclamer: This is not a Mini is better than AR15 or AK47 platform thread. ![]()
